Dear John,

We'll be dancing our way into Spring this year with a Dance-a-thon, and why not? It's an exciting time, especially for our teachers who will be starting fresh after this weekend's Clean-up Day!

Habit #5 will help us all tune up our listening skills for better relationships and teamwork. Let's build on what we know and welcome the newness of Spring!

SCOPE Newsletter Committee

Join us for the next Barnes & Noble Read Aloud Night this Friday, March 9

B&N night Feb photo 1Our first Barnes & Noble Read Aloud Night had a tremendous turnout! How fun to see our 4-5 students' personalities shine as they read their own creative stories. And, to hear the insightful and carefully researched reports on MLK from the 2-3 classes. It's an exciting new way for our OCLM community to come together and for our students to mentor each other. Join us this Friday, March 9, at 6pm for the next Read Aloud Night. Ms. Heather's students will read more of their own stories and our K-1 and 2-3 students have been working on puppet shows together in their buddy groups that we hope to see that night as well. Don't forget the kids' jammies!

Barnes & Noble is located in the Westlake Village Promenade at Westlake and Thousand Oaks Blvds. See you there on the second Friday of each month! Upcoming dates are April 13 and May 18. Mark your calendar!

Habit #5 Training for Parents and All-Day Fundraiser at The Habit Burger Grill: This Wednesday, March 7

Habit #5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be UnderstoodHabit #5

Listening skills are high priority in March as we delve into Habit #5. Last month, we learned about emotional bank accounts and that one of the best ways to make emotional deposits is to know what a deposit means to different people in our lives. Listening well or Habit #5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood keeps us from assuming others' wants and needs are the same as ours. It also helps us work effectively in teams and Synergize next month with Habit # 6.

Join Dr. Sellers this Wednesday, March 7, at 8:30am or 6:30pm for the Parent Training on Habit #5 to learn more. We hope to see you there! Refreshments will be served.

You can also visit www.theleaderinme.org anytime for information on the 7 Habits and resources for sharing them with your family.

Conejo Celebrates Dr. Seuss Day in Jammies

OCLM Art Fundraiser: Order Forms Coming Soon

In February, OCLM students made a piece of art using either the crayon resist technique or painting with their fingers and Q-tips. The art they chose on their own and parent volunteers were on hand to help them complete the projects.

This year we're using Silvergraphics, a company specializing in fundraisers with custom photo products. They will send order forms soon with a complementary print of your child's artwork. Please look for the order forms coming home in backpacks. The deadline for orders is March 16 and items will be delivered by May 3. If you want to submit additional artwork, they can still be ordered but will  be delivered at a later date. Contact Rebecca at rebecca@initnews.com.

Parents can order high-quality t-shirts, key chains, tiles, pillowcases, aprons, greeting cards and more with their child's artwork on it. There are two posters at the campus entrance with more info on the products available. Prices range from $5 to $35 each.

Our school makes 30-35% on each item. It's a great fundraiser and the products are perfect for Mother's Day, Father's Day and Grandparent's Day.silvergraphics

Classroom Clean-Up Day at OCLM: Saturday, March 10, 10am-1pm

clean-up crewThis year our Classroom Clean-up Day is not a surprise! In fact, our teachers are prepping their rooms now to make the most of it. This is the teacher appreciation gift that our teachers appreciate the most. Hours are 10am-1pm this Saturday, March 10. Click here to sign-up or just come by for all or part of the day to help in your child's classroom.

Yearbook Photos

If you have any photos of our kids in class, at school events or on class trips, the Yearbook Committee would love to use them in our Conejo Yearbook!

Please email your photos to Deanna Peacock (in .jpeg format and under 1MB in size) or put photos on a disk and contact Paula Migliaccio to arrange for her to pick them up from you.

We would like to know how many yearbooks to order.  Are you interested in getting a 2011/2012 Conejo yearbook? If so, how many?  Please let Deanna Peacock know.  Thank you.
